Dewar Rattray was founded by Andrew Dewar and William Rattray in 1868. The company began trading as an importer of French wine, Italian spirits and olive oil. In the 19th century Dewar Rattray represented a number of distilleries- including the short lived Stronachie. Business suffered in the 20th century and the company went into decline, although in 2004 it was revived by Tim Morrison, the fourth generation descendant of Andrew Dewar. Now the company offers single cask cask strength whiskies in its range.
