Glen Spey is not widely recognised as a malt whisky as most of it is used in blending mainly J & B blends. It wasn't until 2001 that an official single was launched, a 12 year old in the Flora & Fauna series. The distillery, built in 1878 and one of five distilleries situated in the town of Rothes. Many people claim that Glen Spey houses a ghost. During WWII soldiers were stationed at the distillery at which time one of them was accidentally electrocuted and is now said to haunt the buildings.
