Glenlochy distillery did not have the best start in its chequered life. It was established in the dark years of the Pattison Crash in 1898 and automatically was run at minimum production for most of its life. Scottish Malt Distillers (SMD) finally took it out of production in 1983 and after a failed attempt to demolish it in 1986 the premises were sold off and subsequently turned into holiday homes. Releases of Glenlochy can be found through Independent bottlers with Douglas Laing Releasing to of the oldest a 38 year old and a 49 year old.
