Pittyvaich was opened by Arthur Bell & Sons for the purpose of securing malt whisky for its Bell's blend. The distillery, which sits on the outskirts of Dufftown last distilled in 1993. The following year gin was distilled for Gordon's on a trial basis and staff from the neighbouring Dufftown distillery used the facilities for evaluating distilling techniques and barley types. Its fate was sealed in 2002 when the distilling equipment was sent away to Clynelish and the buildings were demolished. A 12 year old in the Flora & Fauna is the official release by Diageo. Independent releases have been available through Duncan Taylor and Gordon & McPhail.
