Strathclyde distillery was established in 1927 by the Scottish Grain Distillery Co. Ltd. The complex also housed the Kinclaith malt distillery, which was built in 1957, and was the last malt distillery built in Glasgow. Kinclaith operated until 1975 when it was dismantled to make way for extensions to the Strathclyde grain distillery.
