Strathisla distillery is the oldest distillery in the north of Scotland. The distillery was originally known as Milltown, the name was changed to Strathisla in the 1870's. In 1876 the distillery had a lot of rebuilding due to a fire. In 1950 Chivas Brothers Ltd a subsidiary of Seagram acquired it. The majority of the Strathisla single malt produced at the distillery goes into the company's blended whiskies such as Chivas Regal and Royal Salute.
